Guyana’s senior men’s rugby team that is popularly known as the ‘Green Machine’ will engage debutants Guadeloupe to the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Championship for the South Zone title on April 27 at a home venue that is yet to be decided.

won by Trinidad & Tobago (T&T).
During an invited comment during the trial match yesterday, Coach Kenneth Grant-Stuart revealed that next weekend will be the final trial match, after which a training squad of 30 athletes will be selected.
“I am pleased with the result between the Vice-President’s 15s and the President’s 15s today which shows a closer score (19-17) as compared to last weekend score of (10-74). This result indicates that players are improving and are showing a bigger fight to earn a place on the 30-member training squad,” the coach revealed.
He revealed that there will be theoretical sessions during this week that will be available for all players since athlete’s education on the sport is vital.
“All the players are fit and available and it is good that some players who are attached to the GDF (Guyana Defence Force) are being released from duties to train since it has been a real challenge having players released from their jobs to train, especially those attached to the Private Sector but we are happy to have such a huge turnout on both days,” Grant-Stuart further stated.
