Competition in the Regionals Conference competition of the National Schools’ Basketball Festival (NSBF), organised by Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) and sponsored by Edward B. Beharry and Company Ltd and the National Sports Commission, continued in Berbice and Georgetown. Play in the Development League also commenced.
Following are the results: Georgetown/East Coast
President’s College (48 points) trounced St. Joseph’s High (24 points). Leading the winners were Gabriel Lim with the game high 19 points and 8 rebounds, Richard Semple had 8 points and 3 rebounds. For St. Joseph’s High, Shaquan Gill had 15 points and 7 rebounds, while Shaqeem Wilson backed up with 6 points.
Bishops High mauled St. Roses High 55/25 led by Royden Glasgow with 13points (3 rebounds), Keron Bacchus 9 points (5 rebounds). St. Roses got their points from Kahil Farrington (10 & 3 rebounds) and Adrian Pilgrim (6 & 3 rebounds).
Marian Academy eased past Government Technical Institute (GTI) 31– 26 on account of Jether Harris game high performance of 19 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals, Tyrese James backed up with 6 points. GTI’s Israel Yaw tipped in 12 points and a huge 13 rebounds, while Josiah Roberts accounted for 7 points and 3 rebounds.
Berbice at the Vryman Ervin Court – Berbice High trounced Vryman’s Ervin 37-6 led by Charles William who poured in 22 points whilst pulling down a whopping 15 rebounds and 4 steals. Rickford Blair supported with 6 points and Maraldo Durant 2 points with 13 rebounds.
New Amsterdam Techinical Institute (NATI) got the better of New Amsterdam Multilateral 58-37. Leading the winners was Kadeem Dover who slammed in 19 points and snared 4 rebounds, Garfield Benjamin supported well with 16 and Jeremy Williams 15. For New Amsterdam Multi, Shaquan Lucas managed 18 points along with 4 rebounds and Devonte Tappin, 8 points.
Development League
Queens College defeated Saints Stanislaus 29-23 led by Lugard Mohan with 11 points and 13 rebounds with Shakell Bobb-Semple hitting in 9 and 6 rebounds. For Saints, Vemon Edwards had 8 points and 3 rebounds, while Mustapha Kadir 6 with a similar amount of rebounds.
Christ Church got past Brickdam 30-24 thanks to Daniel Pyle’s contribution of 12 points (3 rebounds) and Rahiem Neils 8 points (6 rebound). For Brickdam, Kareem Whitney led with 11 points (7 rebounds), Shemar Morris account for 8 points.
