Apr 07, 2019 Letters
Dear Editor,
After one year and a quarter, I write to draw your attention to my letter dated November 3, 2017, and reminder dated 18th December 2017, both to which I was not given the courtesy of a reply by the former holder of your esteemed office. The area of concern is still in a most decadent state of disrepair (see attached photographs)
I have just returned to Guyana on the 8th March 2019, having had an extensive stay in Georgia, USA since 27th March 2018, where I was subjected to a wide area of medical attention, including an elevated right diaphragm.
Mr. Mayor, I am sure you would not want to learn of the contempt in which I hold the Mayor and City Council because of their ineffectiveness in addressing certain concerns in this so called Garden City. You may want to visit my letter two years ago in the press on the matter of paying city taxes, in some cases, by ESCROW Account and determine why the suggestion has not been given active onsideration towards implementation. Since my return I have paid city taxes for the
years 2019 and 2020.
Furthermore, you may want to determine what new methodology has been put in place in the management of the city of Georgetown since its twinning with the city of Stonecrest of Georgia. Mr. Mayor, Georgia has a large concentration of Guyanese born citizens and I have over the years seen ideas for implementation in Guyana. I often wonder why these Guyanese fail to bring these ideas to the fore whenever they come home. The gutters around GPO sand leading to Fogarty’s where tourists shop art and craft need some dire attention.
Accept, Sir, the assurance of my highest consideration .
Cc: Town Clerk
Aubrey Alexander
Deputy Director
Civil Aviation (Ret’d)
Cc: Deputy Mayor of Georgetown
Hon. Ronald Bulkan’Minister of Communities.
NB: You may want to address the condition of the bridge at the head of new garden and Croal Streets, which poses a serious danger to school children and all those pedestrian who work nearby.
