A fine century from Zafar Khan guided Sawpit to a 77-run victory over Belle Vue when the West Demerara Cricket Association (WDCA)/Beacon Café 50-over tournament continued on Sunday last.
Host Sawpit batted first and posted 239 all out in 34.2 overs with Khan scoring 127 and Ravinandan Ramnarine 35. Safraz Baksh bagged 5-32 and Rajin Persaud 2-16. Belle Vue were bowled out for 162 in 40 overs in reply. Baksh got 38 and Randy Ramroop 24; Avinash Rameshwar took 2-6 and Imran Khan 2-20.
At Zeeburg, the host demolished Christ Ambassador by eight wickets. Batting first, Christ Ambassador were sent packing for 73 in 18.3 overs. Andre Seepersaud picked up 4 for 16 and Yutesh Dhanpaul 3 for 10. Zeeburg responded with 74-2 in 8.5 overs. Ushar Deva Balgobin made 37 and Ashaik Mustapha 20.
At Wales, the host went down to All Youths A by one wicket. Wales took first knock and scored 126 all out in 24 overs. Kevin Lindon struck 48 while Brian Puran contributed 29; Darson La Rose grabbed 4-20, Navindra Persaud 2-13 and Ganesh Persaud 2-16. All Youths A scored 127-9 in 26 overs in response. Ganesh Persaud and Travis Whitrite made 26 and 23 respectively; Brain Puran picked up 4-20 while Kevin Lindon had 3-17.
At Joe Vieira Park, Independence A beat Independence B by one wicket. Independence B took first strike and posted 230 all out in 36 overs. Aaron Seepersaud scored 34 and Anand Bharat assisted with 29; Rickey Sergeant took 2-13. Independence A replied with 231-9 in 43.5 overs. Jevon Hector stroked 49 while Sergeant made 43 as Parsram Parmanand grabbed 4-39 and Bharat 2-61. The competition continues on Sunday.
