Korean International Martial Arts Guyana (KIMAG) hosted the inaugural Inter School Martial Arts championship at the National Gymnasium on Sunday last where teams from across Guyana namely Jaguars Karate Association, Phoenix Karate Association, Best of the Best Martial Arts Association, Traditional Karate Dojo, The Academy of Contemporary Martial Arts, National Martial Arts Guyana and the host team participated.
The tournament was also used to select the Guyana team which will represent the Golden Arrowhead at the fourth annual Guyana South America Undiscovered Martial Arts championship slated for July 26-28 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.
Phoenix Karate Association won the Team Kata title while Korean Martial Arts Guyana finished second and Academy of Contemporary Martial Arts, third. In the respective male and female categories, Mikkel Langhorne emerged winner of the Traditional Empty Hand Kata 6 years and Under, ahead of Xavier Eudoxie and Zaidan Peters, respectively. Sans Sreebalakumar won the female division.
