Bishops’ High’s Malachi Richards (on the ball) scored one goal for his side but it couldn’t stop the charge from President’s College that won 2-1.
Omari Glasgow bagged a brace to guide his team, Annandale Secondary, to an emphatic 4-0 victory over Charlestown Secondary in the first quarterfinal of the ongoing seventh Milo School’s football tournament at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue.
Also on target for Annandale that won the inaugural Guyoil/Tradewind tankers schools football league which is also organised by Petra Organisation; the promoters of this tournament, were Colin Hendricks (32nd) and skipper Jemar Harrigon (90th).
It was a good day for the East Coast Demerara school teams as President’s College got the better of The Bishops’ High School in a 2-1 victory that saw scrappy performances by both sides. Jesse Thomas (41st) and Edron Stephens (56th) were on target for the Golden Grove based school, while Malachi Richards (41st) scored the only goal for the lads based on Carmichael Street.
The tournament which is also being sponsored by the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is placing major emphasis on the emotive issue of gender based violence and before each match, messages are shared to sensitise not only the players but everyone in attendance so the instances of gender based violence can be reduced.
Today, tournament favourites Christianburg/Wismar Secondary School (CWSS) will play Vergenoegen Secondary in the first match at 13:00hrs before Lodge Secondary plays St. John’s College at 15:00hrs.
