Rising Star Sports Club emerged champions of the Canal Number Two Sports Club T20 tournament which was played recently at Canal Number Two, West Bank Demerara.
Rising Star defeated Universal Sports Club in the final. Universal Sports Club won the toss and opted to bat first putting up a total of 123 all out in 19.4 overs with Randy Yankana scoring 17 including three fours. Bowling for Rising Stars F. Karimullah captured 4-12 in 2.4 overs and Shane Persaud 3-17 in four overs. In reply, Rising Stars reached their target in 18 overs with Marvin Cheong scoring 32 including two fours and a similar number of sixes, while Shaquille Brisport made 26 which contained three fours and one six. Bowling for Universal Sports Club, Brian Puran claimed 3-24 in four overs.
In the first match, Rising Stars beat Guyana Eagles of Berbice. Guyana Eagles won the toss and elected to take first strike and were bowled out for 116 in 19 overs. C. Hope made 35 and J. Sinclair 23.
Bowling for Rising Stars, F. Karimullah took 2-5 off two overs; Shane Persaud had 2-12 off four overs, Michael Richardson 2-19 off 3.1 overs and Marvin Cheong 2-25 off four overs. In response, Rising Stars SC achieved the target in 13.5 overs. Elroy Fernandes slammed five fours and six sixes in a top score of 68, while Imran Khan made 15 not out with one four and one six.
