DEAR EDITOR,
It seems as if everyone has suddenly turn shy, no one wants to say it. Simply put, two judges voted allowing for a PNC hooray and the single one voted in a manner the PPP most appreciated.
Yes, at that very moment, it seemed as if the courts voted the way the country votes during the elections; along the ethnic divide. If my facts serve me right, there are no judges of East Indian decent in the CCJ, though one will be there in July, two of European heritage and a whole lot of judges of African decent. As far as voting goes along ethnic lines, President Granger will be there until forever…which everyday seems like for some. But this is in no way reality.
Editor, it is imperative to share with the general public both of African and East Indian descents, that rule of law and ethnicity had a falling out, though they were close lovers prior to emancipation and even sometime after.
The PPP has an even chance at the CCJ and we all know how they scored it big time in the High Courts with the Chief Justice. Yes, to say it clear, a female judge of African decent agreed with the arguments of the PPP and had the PNC scratching their heads.
I repeat, Dear Editor, one of the three branches of power in Guyana does not vote race, ethnicity or for their own mattie. This is something to behold. What if, come next elections, Guyanese just don’t vote race or for we mattie but cast our ballots for those who best articulate a way for Guyana to move forward.
But then Dear Editor, this too might be a waste of time if the Amerindian party primarily wants to help the indigenous peoples and the PNC only gives contracts to supporters and PPP will help their supporters relive the good old years gone by recently.
Hmmm, should we therefore ask for a third party with no one of East Indian, African or indigenous descent and have never been a part of the PNC or PPP! No Editor, I believe a party with a strong and influential youth core will suffice. Somehow, we young people are less racial.
