The two teens that were charged for the murder of a security guard in 2018 have been committed to stand trial in the next sitting of the criminal session of the Berbice High Court.
The men are Carlos Bollers, 19, of Lot 119 Williamsburg, Corentyne, Berbice, and Yuvraj Singh, 17, of Lot 23 Guava Bush, Albion, Corentyne, Berbice. They are on trial for the murder of Munesh Prem Ayasammy Munien, called ‘Tad,’ a security guard who was 52 at the time of his death.
The incident was allegedly committed on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Rose Hall Town during the course of a robbery.
They appeared at the Albion Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Renita Singh where a preliminary inquiry was conducted and it was found that a prima facie case was made out against the duo for murder. Police woman Inspector Althea Solomon prosecuted the case and called a number of witnesses.
Munien’s body was found at the back of the Sukhram General and Agro Chemicals Store, at Rose Hall Town Public Road. He was employed there as the night guard.
The guard had injuries to his head; throat and his legs were reportedly broken. Inside the store was ransacked and over $1.5M was reportedly missing. Monien lived with his sister at Clifton, Port Mourant.
Bollers’s mother, Lalita Bollers, 43, of Lot 1E Ramphal Street, Corentyne, Berbice, was also charged in connection to the crime. She was charged with while knowing that Bollers and Singh, on March 31, last, murdered Munien. Police had subsequently recovered some money at the home of the woman.
She was earlier committed to stand trial in the high Court.
