While the Region Two Tourism Association is striving to promote tourism through a clean environment, there are a number of persons who are reportedly still dumping garbage in prominent tourist locations.
Based on reports, residents within the Anna Regina Community have been dumping garbage along a main carriage way, which leads to the Mainstay Lake Resort.
The Mainstay Lake Resort which is located within the Mainstay/Whyaka community plays an integral role in promoting tourism within the region. While riding to the resort, one would see huge piles of garbage dumped at the side of the roadway.
Regional Executive Officer, Denis Jaikaran, said that he received complaints from the residents of Anna Regina New Housing Scheme and commuters along the mainstay access road that person and businesses are dumping massive amounts of garbage along the roadway.
Residents nevertheless are still calling on the Anna Regina Town Council to look into this matter and punish the culprits for their actions for illegally dumping garbage is a felony.
