Yesterday, around 12:50 pm, a Laverda rice harvester was traveling along the Tuschen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo.
According to the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, its National Task Force Commission (NTFC) team was in the area and confronted the operator who refused to cooperate or stop his machine when requested to do so.
The harvester carried no registration number. The team followed the harvester for a few minutes until it slowed down to cross the public road.
At that point, the ministry said, an engineer within the Ministry was able to speak with the operator in an effort to ascertain the identity of the owner.
The operator claimed that the machine belonged to “Two Brothers”. This is the second time within recent days that the NTFC has noticed this problem along this highway, the ministry said.
“The public is advised that this offence carries a penalty of $50,000 plus three months’ imprisonment.”
