Dear Editor,
After reading Adam Harris’s article this morning, I would like to make a comment. He wrote, “there is a difference between Guyana and the foreign countries. People pay inordinately higher taxes compared to what we pay in Guyana. But the people pay them. They get their returns.”
Editor, though I completely agree with the above quote; there is a huge difference between Guyana and the foreign countries. He is so right in saying “in the foreign countries, people see their returns”.
I ask this; where are the tax dollars at work in Guyana? What significant progress can be shown in the building of the infrastructure in Guyana?
Until the people of Guyana can really see their tax dollars at work, they will always be adamant in not paying their taxes. The future of Guyana will never be a good one without an inclusive government.
The PPP and the PNC have failed Guyana miserably. There was hope in the Coalition Government; however, they failed the people. With the oil boom on the horizon, I do not see it benefitting Guyana if you don’t have the right people to govern.
Guyana is a multi-racial, multi religious society. The people of Guyana need to stop voting based on race. There is no future for Guyana in this. In my entire life, I’ve witnessed race voting in Guyana, I hope I live to see the day that this changes.
I commend everyone at KN for the good work that they are doing to keep us informed.
Regards
