Errol De Souza, who is said to be in his 40s, will be sentenced to a term of imprisonment on March 6, following his conviction by a jury for raping an underage girl. De S

had been on trial before Justice Jo-Ann Barlow for two counts of rape.
After summing up yesterday, the jury found him guilty on both counts. Between January 1 and January 31, 2013, in the County of Essequibo, he engaged in sexual penetration with a 10-year-old girl.
Further, on May 3, 2014, he engaged in sexual penetration with the same girl, who was now 11.
De Souza was represented by Attorney-at-law, Ravindra Mohabir, while the case for the State was presented by Prosecutors Liza Cave, Seeta Bishundial and Sarah Martin.
In the meantime, De Souza has been remanded to prison until the date fixed for sentencing when a probation report will also be tendered in court. This trial was heard at the Sexual Offences courtroom at the High Court in Georgetown.
