Round one play continued in the group round-robin stage of the seventh Milo Schools’ football tournament yesterday at the Ministry of Education (MOE) ground on Carifesta Avenue. Three matches were
played with the opener being a four-goal drawn clash, while Cummings Lodge edged Uitvlugt 2-1 in the feature encounter after Golden Grove have secured a comfortable 2-0 win over St. Cuthbert’s Mission.
Scoring for Cumming’s Lodge in their win were Keion Harmer (10th minute) and Simon Ifill in the 56th before a 68th minute strike from Mickel Mckend gave the West Demerara side a consolation.

Charlestown and Tucville played the 2-2 draw. On the score sheet for Charlestown were Isaiah Moore (18th) and Dante Sookram (38th). However, Charlestown couldn’t hold on to their impressive 2-0 lead in the first half and Dwayne Jones (39th) and an own goal in the 52nd minute ensured Tucville left the match with a valuable point.
East Coast’s Golden Grove Secondary made light work of St. Cuthbert’s Mission to win 2-0, scoring one goal in each half. Jeffrey Charles (32nd) opened the scoring in the first half before Andrew Sathwell (64th) added some cushion to the score.
The tournament, which is being supported by the Ministry Of Public Health (MOPH) through the theme, “Stop gender based violence”, continues this afternoon with three more matches, please see fixtures below.
