Resulting from the recent threats that surfaced on social media over the weekend the Mae’s schools had no other alternative but to issue an immediate cancelation of classes throughout the institution.
Parents were called in to immediately uplift their children. The duration of the shutdown is uncertain at this time however, a notice board outside the school informed that the institution will remain closed for two days or until the school is assured by the police that the building is safe.
The school was evacuated around 9:35 hours and the police with a sniffer dog were summoned. The safety and security of the children and staff remain the utmost importance to the Mae’s administration. The building was searched and no devices or anything that might be a threat to the students or staff of the Mae’s Schools were found.
In previous weeks online threats surfaced. Similarly threats were made to other schools resulting in classes being disrupted. There have been threats towards The School of the Nations, The Bishops High School, Queen’s College, The University of Guyana and now the Mae’s Schools seem to have caught the attention of this fear mongering individual or group of individuals.
Threats began surfacing since mid-January, School of the Nations being first. The director Dr. Brian O’Toole was shot twice. Other schools experienced similar threats of bombings and shootings.
