The final spot in the GFF/ Pele Alumni/Frank Watson Memorial 2017/2018 National Finals would be contested for tomorrow at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground when Cluster 3 teams, Dartmouth Determinators entertain Moruca’s Atkinson Brothers and Bartica’s Rising Stars.
Action will get underway at 10:00hrs with Dartmouth taking on Atkinson Brothers with two more matches scheduled for the day at the end of which, the winner will join Santos Football Club, Eagles Football Club and Tabatinga Football Club of the Rupununi for the National Playoffs on Saturday February 16 at the GFF Training Centre, Providence.
Georgetown Football Association’s Santos gained passage to the finals after winning Cluster 1 with victories over Corriverton Lynx and BV triumph United. Cluster 2 was taken by West Demerara’s Eagles which got past Timehri Panthers and Milerock, respectively.
With a creed to ensure that their players get every opportunity to fulfill their dreams of donning national colours, the Atkinson Brothers (Head Coach Marlon, Assistant Coaches Barry and Brian) who decided to have their own club that is managed by the family will be their biggest step ever.
Rising Stars of Bartica won that associations Under-15 Intra Association league and are eager to prove that they are capable of going all the way. The home team, Dartmouth was involved in a thriller against Timehri Panthers a few weeks ago and are eager to build on that as they seek to defend home turf and become the fourth and final team to qualify for the National Playoffs.
An entertaining day of action is anticipated as the youths aim to outplay each other.
