Businessman, Lloyd Singh, of International Pharmaceutical Agency left the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, Thursday, cleared of all charges brought by the Guyana National Bureau of Stan
dards.
Magistrate Annette Singh dismissed all three charges following a successful no case submission by Attorney-at-Law, Mr. Haymant K. Ramdhani.
Mr. Singh was slapped with two charges under the Food & Drugs Act, late last year. He was accused of allegedly supplying a named unregistered drug to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). He pleaded not guilty and his Counsel successfully secured his pre-trial liberty on both charges.
Soon enough Director of Food & Drugs Department, Mr. Marlon Cole, instituted a third charge, this time one which claimed that “Lloyd Singh of International Pharmaceu
tical Agency supplied a drug “misleading and unrepresented”, to the Georgetown Public Hospital.’
The defendant also pleaded not guilty to this charge.
Mr. Singh explained that he has been in the business of pharmaceuticals for more than 35 years and this is the first time that something like this has happened.
He reassured the public that he is committed to providing best quality products to consumers adding that he is quite concerned that the Food & Drug Department made no attempt to meet with him or give him an opportunity to answer to these accusations.
