As the nation’s leading newspaper and the most read in the Diaspora, Kaieteur News has always prided itself on equal, fair, balanced and objective reporting. Kaieteur News has always strived for honesty, decency and factual and truth telling in the journalistic world.
However, its guest editorial of Monday January 28, 2019: “Practicing Deceptive Politics” did not meet the aforementioned guidelines, standards, values or ethics established by the Publisher and its Editor-in-Chief since the founding of Kaieteur News twenty-five years ago.
It may not be the first newspaper to establish such immaculate principles, but its Publisher and Editor-in-Chief have always insisted for its reporters to take the high moral ground in reporting the news in order to maintain the dignity of the newspaper and its readers in Guyana and around the world.
The editorial was irregular; it contained some inaccuracies and may have caused harm to many of its readers, which was not the intent of the paper.
Therefore, the Publisher, Editor-in-Chief and management of Kaieteur News have expressed their sincere apology to all the readers who might have been affected by the article and we dearly regret this incident. While as human beings, we are not perfect, but our solemn promise to all our readers is, we will do our utmost to prevent this from happening again.
Sincerely,
Management of Kaieteur News
