A 54-year- old man who lives on the Essequibo Coast, was yesterday sentenced to two weeks imprisonment after breaking a peace bond with his daughter in law on New Year’s Day.
The convicted man, Mohan Ram Rombran, appeared in the Suddie Magistrate’s Court, yesterday, before Magistrate Esther Sam, charged with using abusive language. The allegations were made by the man’s daughter in law, who also shares the same residence at Lot 24 Middlesex, Essequibo Coast.
The court heard that the two were previously placed on a peace bond just last November, after Rombran was accused of physically assaulting his daughter in law. On New Year’s Day, the accused subsequently broke the peace bond when he hurled abusive remarks at his daughter-in-law.
Though the accused pleaded multiple times for a second chance, Magistrate Sam in executing decision explained that the default of the peace bond was two weeks’ imprisonment.
