JetBlue Airways Corporation, styled as JetBlue, is currently in the process of securing the necessary documentation to operate in Guyana.
Minister within the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Annette Ferguson, told members of the media on Thursday last, that the airline, among a few others, had indicated its interest in serving the Guyanese market.
She said “… They’re in contact with the Civil Aviation Authority to ensure that the necessary paperwork; documentation that they have to submit [is handed in]. So, that’s where we’re at.”
The New York-based airline is the sixth largest airline in America, with a fleet size of 253. It operates in over 100 countries, including Barbados, Cuba and Trinidad and Tobago. JetBlue is lauded as one of the more affordable airlines.
Following the announcement that high quality petroleum reserves were found offshore Guyana, multiple airlines have indicated their interest in the Guyanese market. American Airlines joined the market in November 2018.
