The Stanleytown, New Amsterdam man who reportedly killed his brother-in-law during a drinking spree has been remanded to jail.
Jermaine Barclay, 32, of 54 Stanleytown New Amsterdam, is accused of killing NKomo LaRose, 29, a security guard of 54 Stanleytown, on December 18, 2018.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore on Monday in a New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court.
Barclay who is being represented by Attorney at law Mursalene Bacchus was not required to plead.
According to Prosecutor, Inspector Bernard Brown, the two men were imbibing. They subsequently had a misunderstanding which became violent. LaRose’s body was discovered lying in a drain at Lot 41 Stanleytown at about 6:30h on Tuesday.
LaRose’s wife, Asha Bailey, is the sister of the accused. She told the media that she had cause to call the police earlier after the men had reportedly armed themselves with a cutlass and knife and had threatened to kill each other.
She subsequently left and went to her grandmother’s home about a quarter mile away. The man subsequently turned up at the house and threatened to kill his sister.
Upon his arrival at his grandmother’s home the elderly woman instructed him to leave.
It was some time after leaving his grandmother’s residence that he reportedly committed the act.
The man was reportedly killed not too far from his grandmother-in-law’s home. There were bloodstains on the road and it was reported that he was trying to get to the home as his wife was there when he was killed.
He has been remanded to jail until January 21, 2019
