Belvedere woman delivers first NA Christmas Day baby
Christmas is the most joyful time of the year and the Latchana family’s holiday was made even more special with the arrival of a tiny bundle of joy.

Hansaranie Latchana of Lot 100 Belvedere, Corentyne, delivered the first Christmas Day baby at the New Amsterdam Hospital at 03:49 hrs. The young mother gave birth to a baby boy.
According to Latchana, this is her first child. She commended the doctor and nurses present during her delivery. Their professionalism helped her to overcome her initial nervousness. The mother explained that she was scheduled to deliver in January, but took in with cramps and was taken to the hospital on Christmas Eve where she delivered her baby boy.
While Latchana was the only mother that delivered at the New Amsterdam Hospital on Christmas morning, later in the day another mother was currently in labour and was expected to give birth.
Latchana was presented with a token, compliments of Massy Distribution, for being the first mother to deliver a Christmas Day baby at New Amsterdam Hospital. (DPI)
