The peace and serenity of West Watooka was on Friday night shattered after a resident was fatally stabbed in the region of the heart and subsequently died at the Linden Hospital Complex while receiving medical attention.
Residents expressed shock at what some called the senseless killing of Leonard Peters.
The police in a release said that they are investigating the murder of Leonard ‘Lenny’ Peters, 21, of Lot 29 West Watooka, Wismar, Linden which occurred about 22:00h Friday night at Lot 6 West Watooka, allegedly by two male residents.
The incident reportedly stemmed from a misunderstanding at a social event at Lot 6 West Watooka where it was alleged that the deceased accidentally spilled alcohol on one of the two suspects and which subsequently resulted in a physical confrontation.
Peters who was observed bleeding from a wound in the left side chest, was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex where he died shortly after whilst receiving medical attention.
The suspects known by the aliases “Giddie” and “Gazza” are being sought by police.
Other reports from informed sources indicated that following the accidental spilling of alcohol by the deceased, one of the suspects left the group and went to his mother’s house.
While there, the deceased, who was reportedly armed with a piece of wood, followed the suspect and became verbally abusive.
He allegedly chucked the suspect’s mother, after she spoke to him about his behaviour.
One of the suspects then allegedly stabbed the deceased to his heart.
Peters was described as ‘a nice person’ and several took to social media to express condolences to the family.
