By now, Guyana would have been shocked by the outcome of a no-confidence motion, which has heralded fresh elections within three months.
One man has spoken and the rest of Guyana will have to sit up and take notice.
However, it should be seen as a positive situation and an opportunity.
There are three major parties in Guyana- the People’s National Congress Reform, the Alliance For Change, and the People’s Progressive Party.
There is enough in this country for us to enjoy the good life.
It is time for both parties to come together and work for a national front government or shared governance or whatever you want to call it.
We can no longer be divided.
We have seen the aggressive stance of Venezuela towards our oil ventures as evidenced from their incursion to our waters.
We have a golden opportunity to do good things.
There is an old saying, ‘United we stand, divided we fall.’
There is a beautiful poem that we can reflect on:
I shall pass this way but once;
Any good therefore
That I can do
Or any kindness that I
Can show to any creature,
Let me do it now.
Let me not defer nor neglect it,
For I shall not pass
This way again.
