It is that time of year again where turfites in the ancient county of Berbice will be anticipating the annual Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club (KMTC) Christmas horserace meet which will see over $3million in cash prizes up for grabs.
Set for Boxing Day at Bush Lot Corentyne, the provisional programme has listed seven races for the meet with the C Class and lower event being the feature race with a total cash pot of $1.6 million dollars on offer.
To ensure a successful event, the Trophy Stall, with several locations, has joined the support band through sponsorship of the event. Proprietor Ramesh Sunich, known for his support for sporting events, presented some of the trophies that will be up for grabs to Justice Cecil Kennard this week at the business’ Bourda Market location. The trophies will go to the top performers at the meet.
Entries are already closed, but any information on the event can be had by contacting Niketa Ross 662-4668, Isaac Dallo 689-0629, Ivan Dipnarine 331-0316, Justice Kennard 623-7609, Fazal Habibulla 657-7010 and Campton Sancho 602-1567.
The races will be run under the rules of the Guyana Horse Racing Authority.

The H1 and Lower race along with the 3-year-old and over races will see attractive top purses of $250,000 and $240,000 respectively.
Meanwhile, the 2-years-old Guyana bred (maiden) which will be raced over a distance of five furlongs will see the winner galloping away with $200,000.
The other races and first place cash prizes are as follow, the L-open: $140,000, L-non winners: $120,000 and L-non earners $100,000.
