An early morning shooting in Agricola, Greater Georgetown, has left 34-year-old Kacey DaSilva called “Presser” of 96 Remus Street, Agricola, dead, while 24-year-old Seon Bobb of the same village is nursing gunshot wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Initial reports reaching this publication stated that there was a shooting in Agricola around 08:15 hours yesterday, and when Kaieteur News arrived on the scene – the Agricola main access road, between the second and third streets of the village – DaSilva and Bobb had already been rushed to the Diamond Regional Hospital by public-spirited residents, where DaSilva was pronounced dead on arrival, while Bobb who received gunshot wounds to the upper right side of his body and leg was treated by doctors and transferred to the GPHC where doctors immediately started to operate on him.
Kaieteur News was reliably informed by a source that the incident stemmed from a fight that occurred between an individual called “Rasta” and the suspect, during which, the suspect was beaten. The source claims that the suspect felt embarrassed after DaSilva and Bobb started laughing at him and calling him names, at which time his (the suspect’s) brother, allegedly handed him a gun, which he used to confront DaSilva and Bobb and began shooting at the two men. The suspect and his brother then left the location on foot through one of the access streets in the village, leaving DaSilva mortally wounded with gunshots to the right chest and left foot.
The police have taken into custody another individual who is said to be related to the men, who were shot, with the intention of helping with investigations. DaSilva’s body was removed from the Diamond Regional Hospital to the Lyken Funeral Home where it awaits an autopsy.
Police are now on the hunt for the suspect and his brother.
