The Golden Grove Ground, East Coast Demerara will be the center of attraction today when the Guyana Football Federation / Stag Super 16 championship continues with two more matches from 18:30hrs.
Seeking to join defending champions Guyana Defense Force, Buxton United, Fruta Conquerors and Western Tigers in the quarter finals are home team Ann’s Grove which will take on East Bank’s Soesdyke Falcons in the opening match at 18:30hrs and the all East Coast cast of Victoria Kings which will tangle with Buxton Stars in the main attraction.
There is no room for any mistakes and this evening’s matches are anticipated to be exhilarating as teams are aware that only winners will advance.
Ann’s Grove will bank on the likes of veteran Dwain Jacobs, Les Charles Critchlow, Delroy Deane, Clive Andries and William Europe along with Quincy Johnson, Antonio Jackson, Odel Gulliver, Steve Francis, Ryan Seals, Gerald Sobers, Quincy Barry, Maxton Adams, Roydell Dodson, Chavez John and Okemi Edwards among others to deliver a victory for them.
Soesdyke Falcons, competing at this level for the first time will go into the match with no pressure as they will start as the underdogs. To combine efforts with a view of sending the home team packing would be Orin Tasher, Marvin Joseph, Roger Dey, Tyrell and Tyrone Khan, Shane Meusa, Dwayne Barker, Kelsey Benson, Colin Holder and Dolwin Boston among other players.
The feature match, an all East Coast derby will see Victoria Kings starting as the favourites but Buxton Stars is no pushovers and have been dominating at eh East Coast level apart from competing in numerous tournaments in the city.
The Stars’ ambition to shine will depend on the likes of Goalkeeper Eon Abel, Kofi Major, Shemar McPherson, Kevin Garnett, Shemar Scott, Cordel Thomas, Karlos Cole, Malcolm Wilson, Samuel George, Toney Homer, Casey Parris, Kenroy Green and Kareem Wills.
Victoria, once known as the knockout kings in Guyana will hope to end the night on a winning note and would that the likes of veteran Aubrey Gibson, Kwadjo Garnett, Calvin De Souza, Pierre Joseph, Andrew Williams, Inceford Charles, Trevor Fraser, Alden Lawrence, Azumah Roberts, Sherlock Dowden and Travis James can deliver the goods.
