Shamal Angel was voted cricketer of the year when the Achievers Youth and Sports Club held its annual awards ceremony on Saturday last at the Fort Wellington Secondary School, West Coast Berbice.
Angel was also named the most disciplined junior player and the most improved cricketer of the year.
Krishandat Ramoo was named the most discipline senior player and the runner up cricketer of the year. Tiea Isaacs was given the female cricketer of the year accolade, while Kelvin Sinclair took home the prize for being named the U19 cricketer of the year. Collis Noble and Budram Lakram won the U17 and U15 cricketers of the year prizes respectively.
David Black of the Achievers Youth and Sports Club told Kaieteur Sport that the ceremony was held to recognise the efforts of the players throughout the year and also served as a motivation not only to them but other youngsters.
