Hundreds of children and less fortunate families in the county of Berbice would be having a brighter Christmas via the hard work of the Management and Cricketers of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS. Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation from the 20th to 24th December, 2018 would be hosting its 28th annual multimillion Christmas Charity Programme and 4th Annual Christmas Village.

The Club’s ten cricket teams which consist of over two hundred members are forging ahead with plans for the two programmes under the direction of Club/Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster and his deputy Simon Naidu.
As per norm with any Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club, MS programme, Corporate Guyana and individuals have come on board to support the venture. The Christmas Village received financial donations on Friday last from Mr. Chintamani, Peter Lewis, KSM Investment, A.M. Khan of LBT, Farfan & Mendes, Alistair Parris of Len’s Craft, The Hardware Deopt, John Lewis of John Lewis Styles, the Gift Centre, Bissoondyal Sing of Bissan Trading and the Central Corentyne Chamber of Commerce. The ten cricket teams also received large donation of toys and food items from several of the RHTYSC closest corporate supporters. They include Big ‘B’ Restaurant, Bounty Farm, Fairfield Rice Mill, Bakewell, V Net Communications, H.A Snacks Co, Ltd, F & H Printery, Toucan Industries, Starr Computers, W/R Enterprise, Factory Price, Regal Enterprise, Sueria Manufacturing, K. Sarwan, Anil Beharry, Rana Persaud, Cirkel Distributors, Ryan Tillack, Poonai Pharmacy, The Office of the First Lady, S. Tulsi-Mahadeo and Sterling Products Ltd.
Foster stated that at the completion of 2018, the ten cricket teams would have distributed over $5M worth of hampers, toys, clothing, educational materials to less fortunate children, single parent households, NGOs, Churches and the elderly. Great effort is also being placed into the Berbice Christmas Village, which over the last three years has developed a reputation of promoting the true value of the Festive Season and where children can enjoy themselves away from loud music, gambling, alcohol and vulgar language. The Club would be sharing out hundreds of food hampers, 3000 toys, hosting a Christmas Children Party, making donations to orphanages and senior citizens home. Thousands of children would also be given the opportunity to have smiles on their faces.
Under-17 Captain and National Junior Cricketer Jonathan Rampersaud, who is one of the chief organisers of the programme, expressed gratitude to all of the donors. The promising and highly talented all rounder stated that the ten cricket teams are very proud of the fact that the RHTYSC is the only cricket club in the Caribbean that mandates its players to make positive differences in the lives of others. The Club in 2018 would have completed a total of 718 programmes/activities by the 31st December, 2018. Rampersaud expressed gratitude to all of the donors and reassured them that the items would be used for the intended purpose.
