Following his outstanding showing in the Ontario Softball Cricket League (OSCL), Imtiaz Abjal was rewarded for his efforts when the League held its annual awards ceremony recently in
Scarborough.
In the T20 tournament, Abjal notched up 201 runs in nine innings with a highest score of 50, while Naveed Ali was the next best batsman for Good Success with 156 runs in seven innings. Imran Khan 154 runs in seven innings, Abdool Azeez 135 runs and Krishna Persaud 112 from nine innings completed the top five batsmen for the team. The side’s top bowler in this league was Naveed Ali with 12 wickets at an average of 4.64; Askoh Ramjass 12 wickets at 4.42, Abjal 11 wickets at 6.03, Moin Khan eight wickets at 5.33 and Abu Shameer Khan eight wickets at 5.68 rounded the top five.
Abjal received a prize for scoring 53 not out in the T10 tournament, while his teammate Ashook Ramjass took the trophy for being named the MVP in the final in the 15-over B division competition where he grabbed 5-18 to help his team to victory; he was also rewarded for taking 6-2 in the preliminary round. Good Success received the championship trophy while each player were given trophies and medals for their efforts.
