Former national players Kayode McKinnon and Rickland Hutson will continue to show their appreciation for the continuation of youth football in Guyana when they stage their 2018 Kayo’s Academy and Rickland ‘Tallo’ Hutson Under 13 and 16 Youth Challenge Football Fiesta at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground this morning from 10:00hrs.
This is aimed at unearthing young talented players in the form of early competition by the United States-based former National players from Linden.
Hutson in his prime represented Guyana but had participated as a club player with the Eagles United club out of Christianburg, while McKinnon was a key player for the National team after making his name as a player with the Topp XX side.
The two categories of the competition will see the Milerock FC defending both titles after winning them last year and among the top challengers expected are Eagles United and Tallo Hutson’s Youths, Botafago, and the Amelia’s Ward.
The clubs entering this year’s championships must have their players registered by 9.30hrs and the Under 13 teams are allowed seven players and a goalkeeper on the field, while a total of thirteen will be accepted to play.
In the Under 16 competition only twelve will be registered and seven without the goalkeeper allowed on the field of play.
Generally the rules of FIFA will be applied to the playing of the competitions but any player or official of teams being given a red card will be expelled from the tournament.
