As the GT Beer/ Candy Boss and Antics Promotion 8-a-side Football Invitational tournament continues in Berbice some changes have been made to the format of the tournament.
With five teams already through to the next round and one more still to advance the organisers have now divided the teams into two groups with each team playing each other in the respective groups and the top two advancing to the semifinal.
The teams already through are, Paradise FC, Monedderlust, Rosignol United and No5 FC all of the West Coast Berbice and defending champions Police FC.
They will be joined by either Golden Stars or Mahaica Determinators who were expected to play in the first game of a double header yesterday. The second game of that double header was expected to see No5 taking on Paradise.
The competition is being played under lights at the All Saints Scott Church ground in Princess Elizabeth Road, New Amsterdam Berbice.
Group A is made up of No5 FC, Paradise FC and Police FC. Group B consist of Monedderlust, Rosignol United and the winner of the Golden Stars Verses Mahaica Determinators game.
Thirty-two teams from Berbice, Georgetown, East Coast Demerara and West Demerara began the competition for a chance to win cash prizes and trophies in excess of $1.2 million.
Among the sponsors on board are Banks DIH Limited under the GT Beer Brand, Fly Jamaica, Regional Health Services, Foot-soul, Bobb and Sons, National Sports Commission and Integrated Security. The coordinator is Tito “Candy Boss” Sancho. (Samuel Whyte)
