Trailblazers won the male category of the Winston Murray Memorial softball competition by defeating Young Warriors in the final played recently at Enterprise ground in Leguan. Young Warriors batted first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 51 in 7.1 overs with Tyrone Narine scoring 15. Kevin Mahase claimed 4-14 and Brian Roopchand 4-17.
Trailblazers, which drew the bye to the final reached 52 in reply, Roopchand led with 34. In the lone semi final, Young warriors batted first and posted 105 in their 10 overs. Tulsieram Premnauth made 37. Bowling for Stiffy XI, Aseeb Khan had 3 for 17.
Stiffy XI replied with 95-6, Devon Stephen scored 37; Tyrone Narine took 2-12. Young warriors won by 9 runs. Awards were given to Kevin Mahase-most wickets, Tulsieram Premnauth-best batsman, Shoaib Khan-most catches and Roopchand-man-of-the-match in the final.
