The South Turkeyen Sports Committee will be hosting a 5-a-side football and penalty shootout competition at Jubilee Park commencing at 09:30hrs on Sunday. Among the teams slated to take part are Lodge, Sophia A, B, C and D field, Tigerbay, Vryheid’s Lust.
The competition is being sponsored by Tent City and Trophy Stall of Bourda Market. The committee will also be staging a walk-a-ton in honour of Johnny Barnwell on Sunday starting at 06:00hrs from Jubilee Park, Homestretch Avenue to the National Park. Entrance fee is $200.
Meanwhile, One ‘A’ Girls defeated One ‘C’ Girls in the final of the Queen’s College Inter Class competition which was contested recently at Ministry of Education ground. One ‘C’ Girls batted first and managed 35-6 in their allocation of six overs while One ‘A’ Girls responded with 36-2; Lashmee Ganesh made 25.
One ‘B’ Girls won the third place playoff game against One ‘D’ Girls. One ‘B’ scored 41-4 while One ‘D’ made 29-3 in reply. In the Boys final, One ‘C’ took first strike and managed 29-5 while One ‘B’ replied with 32-1.
Queens College scored 66-2, batting first against ‘C’ House with Ryan Clarke scoring 39; ‘C’ House were limited to 44-6 in reply. Meanwhile ‘A’ team beat ‘C’ team 1-0 to win the Girls’ football game.
Trophies were donated by Tent City, Trophy Stall Bourda Market, Lahsmee Ganesh, Owen Hopper, Sameya Khan, P and P Insurance, National Sports Commission and Alisuda Jaisem Singh.
