The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority has indicated that Eastern Airways Corporation is seeking to operate a weekly flight between New York and Guyana.
Having exited Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceeding, Dynamic International Airways LLC had changed its legal name to Eastern Airlines, LLC.
According to the GCCA, the date of commencing is December 15 for a period of three years.
The GCCA has advertised for members of the public to make representations and objections to Eastern’s application to service Guyana.
“Those making representations and/or objections shall state the specific grounds on which such are made and shall specify any desired conditions to the attached to the license if granted,” the GCCA noted.
Members of the public have until December 21st to file with the GCCA.
The US Company, Dynamic Airlines pulled out of Guyana late last year after bankruptcy issues, leaving passengers stranded and almost 200 persons jobless.
It had amended previously announced plans to offer scheduled service between the United States and China, in favour of flights to South America.
In a filing to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) seeking to endorse its claim to substantial fitness, the carrier said it would offer scheduled flights between New York’s JFK airport and Georgetown, Cheddi Jagan in Guyana using its fleet of B767s.
Dynamic in a disclosure to the US Department of Transportation (DOT) had said that under its court-approved reorganization plan, it will continue to operate ACMI-type charter flights in a bid to rebuild its financial resources.
It said that during its time in bankruptcy protection, it had seen “substantial unmet public/market need for carriers with wide-body convertible aircraft”.
All aircraft Dynamic currently operates – one B767-200, two -(ER)s, and two B767-300(ER)s – are dry leased from various LLCs owned by Woolley. However, the disclosure states that Woolley would have donated these leased aircraft to Dynamic, such that Dynamic will own its entire B767 fleet.
The airline has been under US Chapter 11 protection since July 2017.
Dynamic Airways operated four years in Guyana before ending its flights last year.
Late last September, flights were reportedly decreased from five weekly to two.
The North-Carolina based carrier, Dynamic Airways transported at least 80,000 passengers to and from Guyana.
Currently, the high demand JFK destination is being served by Caribbean Airlines and Fly Jamaica.
In Guyana, Dynamic ground handling and other services were done by Roraima Airways.
