After their first night loss the No 47 Challengers novice volleyball club of Corentyne bounced back nicely with their remaining set of matches in their developmental volleyball tour of neighbouring Suriname.
In the games played at the Albert Cameron Institute in Paramaribo, First match versus Yelico they won 2-1 with the scores being 25-21, 23-25, 25 – 19. Second match was against Bazukas with the scores ending 2-0 at 25 – 22, 25- 12. They then took on Celon in their third encounter in a 3 best in 5 affair which the Guyanese won by a 3-1 margin. The scores were 25- 13, 25 -23, 26-28, 25-21.
They had earlier engaged Yelco on the first night in a grueling five setter losing 1-4. The scores were 25-22, 25-23, 28-26, 26-24 and 22-25.
The president of the Suriname Volleyball Federation thanked the Guyana team for attending and stated that he is looking forward to more developmental matches of a similar nature, for all categories and gender.
The No 47 Challengers Volleyball Club has been performing outstandingly in the novice’s category in the Berbice Volleyball Association (BVA) and has been declared the champion novice team in the county.
The players that made the trip that lasted from Friday 30 November to Sunday 2nd were Jaipaul Seenauth, Kevindra Neeharoo, David Etwaroo, Amarnauth Seenauth, Reaad Asgarally, Tyronehh Farley, Devindra Ramdeen, Ravi Rampartab and Khemraj Chatterpaul. (Samuel Whyte)
