Former senior Essequibo inter-county batsman Narindra Madholall struck an entertaining, unbeaten 60 to power Reliance Hustlers to a thrilling nine-wicket victory over Richmond Warriors in the final of the annual Shekhar memorial match.
The eight-over four-a-side one-day competition was recently played at Reliance Committee Development ground, Essequibo as the left-hander hit seven sixes in his 24-ball display.
His team reached 85-1 in the eighth over after Richmond Warriors had posted up a challenging 80-6 from the allotment of eight overs. Earlier in the day, Hustlers got the better of Reliance Sports Club, while Richmond Warriors defeated Fishermen X1 at the same venue.
According to the sponsor Vijay Deonarine, the competition will continue to be annual in memory of his child who passed away four years ago just after he was born. Organizer for the day’s event Trevis Simon also spoke at the simple presentation ceremony congratulating the winning combination and thanked Deonarine for his involvement.
