The Trophy Stall Port Mourant, Berbice sponsored Upper Corentyne Cricket Association Under-19 50 overs round robin competition saw Scottsburg United, No.66 Cricket Club and No. 72 Cut & Load secured wins in the first round played Saturday last.
At Scottsburg ground: Scottsburg United defeated Radha Krishna Foundation Academy by 37 runs. Batting first Scottsburg United scored 90 all out in 24 overs with Akhtar Nohar 18 and C. Bubhram 15 being the top scorers. Bowling for Radha Krishna Foundation Academy, Rasheed Alli took 3 for 9, Vedanand Kumar 3 for 26 and N. Doodnauth 3 for 26. In reply Radha Krishna Foundation Academy were bowled out for 53 in 17.4 overs. S. Nohar took 6 for 13 and R. Jamalodeen 2 for 17 doing the work for Scottsburg United.
At No. 48 ground: No. 66 cricket club defeated No. 48 by 7 wickets. No. 48 after winning the toss batted first and were bowled out for 81 runs in 20 overs. Sunil Singh top scored with 15. Bowling for No. 66, Jason Boodhan took 4 for 26 in 4.2 overs and Naresh Satram 3 for 24 in 4 overs. In Reply No. 66 overhauled the score, losing 3 wickets in the process. Charran Singh top scored with 23.
At No. 72 ground: No.72 Cut and Load was awarded the match by the competitions committee of the UCCA – Chairman of the committee is Mr. Sydney Jackman. However, in that match there were an outstanding performance by Seiraj Chatterpaul taking 6 for 21 for No. 72 Cut and Load.
The competition continues today with fixtures as follows: No. 73 Cricket Club VS. Radha Krishna Foundation Academy, No. 66 Cricket Club VS, Scottsburg United and No. 72 Cut and Load VS. No. 48 Cricket Club (Teams named first are host).
This tournament is Organised by the Upper Corentyne Cricket Association and is sponsored by Mr. Ramesh Sunich, Managing Director of Trophy Stall with its new Location at Market Road, Port Mourant, Corentyne, Berbice which will open its doors for business in January, 2019.
