Three Corporals attached to the Fort Wellington Police Station are being questioned in Georgetown at CID Headquarters after they were implicated in the disappearance of a quantity of cannabis from an abandoned car. They have been identified as Corporal Layne, Corporal Doris and Corporal Vyphuis.
The car was found abandoned with over 21 kilograms of sealed cannabis on the West Coast Berbice.
According to the country’s Crime Chief, Deputy Commissioner Lyndon Alves, the three policemen are at TSU pending investigation.
He said that they were not under close arrest but just “being questioned”.
Reports are that the ranks took a portion of the illegal substance before it was lodged.
A few days ago a car was found abandoned on the Number Six Village Public Road on the West Coast Berbice after allegedly crashing into the rear of another vehicle.
The driver was nowhere in sight after the accident. However a search of the vehicle revealed several parcels of compressed cannabis which the police had said weighed in excess of 21.7 kilograms.
