Leading Sophia racehorse, Not This Time, will be seeking to make it mark on the inaugural Race of Champions Horserace Meet organised by the Jumbo Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee and fixed for this Sunday at the Port Mourant Turf Club in Corentyne, Berbice starting from 12 noon.
Not This Time is known to cause upsets in big meets, winning million dollar purses twice this year. The 3yr old locally bred filly won the derby for the Guyana Cup and few weeks later ran against the West Indian bred horses, winning another $1M both at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
With Not This Time’s name mentioned, Sunday’s contest promises to be an exciting affair. One major match up will see a return clash between Vera’s Finally and Just call me Boss at the only track Vera’s Finally has lost a race in Guyana.
The programme features several exciting races and fans will be in for a big treat. Races on the programme will feature:
Race 1: 1300M- The first Annual Race of Champions. Purse: $1,937,500 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies & Mares three Years and older.
Race 2: 1500M- F-Class Purse: $ 775,000 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies & Mares three Years and older and is open to all West Indian and Guyana bred horses F & Lower.
Race 3: 1300M-H-Class Purse $ 446,500 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies & Mares three Years and older and is open to all West Indian bred horses H& Lower and Guyana bred horses H1 & Lower.
Race 4: 1300M-2yrs Old Purse: $533,000 for Colts, Gelding & Fillies 2 Years Old.
Horses Bred in Guyana Only.
Race 5: 1500M-I Class Purse: $484,000 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies & Mares 3 years and older, Guyana bred horses classified 1& Lower. Also open to H-Class no earner in Guyana.
Race 6: 1300M-J Class Purse: $465,000 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies & Mares 3 years and older, Guyana bred horses classified J3 & lower.
Race 7: 1300M-K-Class Purse: $445,500 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies & Mares 3 years and older, Guyana bred horses classified K- class & lower.
Race 8: 1500M-L class Purse $387,500 for Colts, Gelding Only. Horses of all ages, Guyana bred horses classified L Class. Open to J3 first time starter and K class horses who have not earned in their first start/last start.
Race 9: 1300M-L class Purse $387,500 for Fillies & Mares Only. Horses of all ages, Guyana bred horses classified L Class. Open to J3 first time starter and K class horses who have not earned in their first start/last start.
Race 10: 1500M-L class. Purse$ 299,000 for Colts, Gelding, Fillies and Mares. Horses of all ages, Guyana bred horses classified L Class. Open to J3 first time starter and K class horses who have not earned in their first start/last start.
The Jumbo-Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee reserves the right to cancel /reframe any race in the event that there are less than five (5) horses entered for any event, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to cancel or reframe the said event or reduce the prize money on race day after notifying the horse owner.
Five horses must start or no third prize will be paid, seven horses to start or no fourth prize will be paid and 12 horses to start or no fifth prize will be paid.
All races are run under the Guyana Horse Racing Rules, but also must meet all requirements of the Jumbo-Jet thoroughbred racing committee while horses are subject to reclassification pending to the results of any race meeting prior to this one.
All races will start on time and entries are to be paid and jockeys are to be weighed 15 minutes before post time and if not the said race will be cancelled.
Entries will only be accepted by entry forms provided by the Jumbo-Jet Thoroughbred Racing Committee.
