District five Okemi Porter leaps to a new record in boys U20 high jump 1.79m.44

Okemi Porter of District Five West Coast Berbice produced an awesome display to set a new record and take gold in boys U20 high jump when the National Schools Track and Field championships continued yesterday at Leonora.
The lanky Porter had the crowd on its feet as he leaped 1.79m to take gold, erasing the old record of 1.74m which was held by Yannick Walcott of District Three West Demerara Essequibo Islands.
Dejaun Grant of District four East Coast Demerara jumped 1.41m to take gold in the boys U12 high jump breaking the previous record of 1.39m which was held by Steve Semple of District One North West.
Another record in the high jump was set by Jada La Cruz of District One who erased her previous best of 1.15m as she leaped 1.17m.

Tonya Rollins of District three crosses the finish line ahead of Tiea Lowe of District 12 and Aaliyah Reid of District 14 respectively.

Melon Lowenfield of District six Corentyne took the top podium spot in the long jump boys U16 as he cleared 6.47m to set a new record in the process, erasing the previous best of 6.14m.
In the track events, Shane Haynes of District 10 Upper Demerara/Kwakwani blazed the track to win the boys U20 100m final, while Alwyn Prince of District four East Coast Demerara placed second and Anthony Griffith of District 11 North Georgetown was third.
The 100m girls U20 was taken by Tonya Rollins of District three ahead of Tiea Lowe of District 12 and Aaliyah Reid of District 14 respectively. Derron Roberts of District 13 South Georgetown won the boys U18 100m while Akeem Caesar of District 10 placed second and Mark Solomon of District three third.
Deshana Skeete of District 10 captured the 100m girls U18; Binka Joseph of District three West Demerara Essequibo Islands placed second and Aaliyah Kelman of District 14 East Bank Demerara was third.
Ronnel Newton of District 10 took gold in the 800m boys U20 while Okemi Porter took second and Jamal Scott of District 14 East Bank Demerara was third.
Serena Williams of District 10 won the girls U20 800m ahead of Leyona Charles of District 13 South Georgetown and Donell Mathieson of District five in that order.

Shane Haynes of District 10 (1043) sprints to gold in the boys U20 100m ahead of Alwyn Prince of District four and Anthony Griffith of District 11.

Courtley Bobb of District five grabbed the boys U18 800m title, while Murphy Nash of District six placed second and Darel Davis of District 10 was third.
The girls U18 800m was taken by Tia Azore of District 10, while Jasmine Assanah of District 12 finished second and Alyiah Headley of District four placed third.
Cordel Charles of District 12 East Georgetown won the boys U16 800m; Matthew Gordon of District five was second and Ogle Benel of District 11 North Georgetown third.
Adriel Austin of District 11 carted off the girls U16 800m while Keliza Smith of District three and Shaquka Tyrell of District 10 placed second and third respectively.
The 800m boys U14 was won by Samuel Henry of District five; Jonathan Seedath of District four was second and Akeem Henry of District 11 third.
