Students, teachers and parents of St Ambrose Primary School yesterday were elated as the school received microscopes from Dr. Frank Denbow, a past student of the school.
The short programme which was filled with singing and poems saw the children cheering and clapping.
Young Sherwin Gaime captured the audience with his angelic voice covering the pop song ‘Cold Water’ by Major Lazor featuring Justin Bieber and MØ.
Before his introduction of the main guest, Sir Baptiste made special mention of the team ‘The Alumni’, which would have always found means to give back to the school. This year the team would have presented school bags, sports shirts and would have sponsored the school’s sports championship trophy.
For the Grade One students that would have missed the presentation of school bags filled with school supplies last September, which according to Sir Baptiste numbered 33 students; they received their portion during the programme yesterday.
Dr. Denbow in his first personal giving back to the school after 51 years presented the school with two microscopes.
In his encouragement to the current students he stated, “This country needs all its citizens to develop it. Be the best you can be.
“You have the ability to be who you want to be to achieve your goals. Remember, be good, kind Guyanese citizens.”
