As if seeking to outdo each other, Corporate Giants Courts, Digicel and GTT brought Christmas Cheer to the mining Town of Linden with mind-blowing deals and a festive “Light Up” on Thursday and Friday respectively.
On Thursday, Courts set the ball rolling with their Spin the Wheel Competition, where customers “spun the wheel” and won an array of prizes including “hundred percent back” on their purchases.
Scores of elated shoppers flocked the store on Republic Avenue to take advantage of the opportunity. Residents also took full advantage of the “Nothing down until next year” offer.
While the store did brisk business all day, evening brought even more excitement as hundreds converged on Republic Avenue for the Annual Courts Light Up.
The appetites of the entertainment-hungry patrons were duly sated through song, dance and drama.
The children of course, couldn’t wait to see their favorite Cartoon Characters, and Santa and Mrs. Claus, who did not fail to deliver unadulterated festive fun.
Early Friday morning Digicel, which shares the same property as Courts, rolled out their Christmas Promotion, “The Gift of Data”. During the promotion the first fifty customers were given free handsets.
Digicel soon added another fifty, ensuring that 100 customers received free phones, free Sims and a month’s data plan.
As the word spread, scores of customers lined up in the scorching sun to cash in on other deals, including “buy one , (phone)get one free,” offers, and paying the incredibly low price of $5, 500 for a handset.
Digicel also made donations to “For the Children’s Sake” Foundation and the Linden Special Needs School.
Meanwhile at the Amelia’s Ward/Wisroc Car park, GTT had already set up “boom boxes” and other promotional paraphernalia by Friday midday in preparation for their “Plus Size” Christmas Promotion.
Although this event did not get going until late Friday afternoon, the Blue network people entertained shoppers and commuters with music which reverberated across the Park.
Patrons did not seem to mind the joyful din, which somehow only added to the festive air, and the anticipation of what was to come.
They did not have long to wait, because as the sun began to set, GTT was getting ready to really heat things up with their deals, and giveaways.
The giveaways included free credit and data plans, and like their competitor Digicel, GTT also sold handsets at dirt cheap prices.
