When the Guyana National Rifle Association (GuyanaNRA) Smallbore section brought off the Print For Less sponsored .22 Precision Pistol Championship on Saturday last at the Guyana Police Force Tactical Service Unit Range, Eve Leary, Joshua Ramlakan shot his way to the senior title, while Rawatte Shiwdin was too good for her male rivals in the Junior Category showdown.
Ramlakan, shooting at 7, 10, 15, 20 and 25m, tallied 379 points and 11Vs to win by a 7 point margin from Surujbali Persaud who accumulated 372 points and 11Vs. The 3rd place went to Chad Melville (365/5); 4th was GuyanaNRA Smallbore Vice Captain Dale Richards (353/6) with the 5th place occupied by Jermaine Softleigh who tallied the same points as Richards but lost out on Vs as he only mustered 3.
Ruling the roost in the Junior category which was shot at the 7, 10 and 15m ranges was Rawatte Shiwdin whose precision allowed her to tally 277 points as well as 6 Vs. Claiming the second place was Jason Cox (264/5), Satya Dayaram was 3rd (240/3) followed by Clayton Charles (237/1) and Royland Fraser (226/0) closing out the top five positions.
Next on the Smallbore Section agenda would be an Action Pistol Event on Sunday at the Timehri Rifle Ranges, Yarrowkabra, Linden, Soesdyke Highway. The top five senior and junior shooters will be rewarded.
