– Buxton, Conquerors, Santos, Police to battle
The remaining two semi final spots are at stake tomorrow evening at the GFC Ground when play in the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) / Stag Revival Cup continues.
Buxton, an affiliate of the East Demerara Football Association will come up against Fruta Conquerors from 18:00hrs with the final match of the night between Santos and Police, two hours later.
Already booking their spots in the final four are Georgetown Football Club (GFC) which tamed Western Tigers 4-0. The Tigers never threatened the GFC boys who, behind a double off the boot of Lavanghu Enniss in the 60th and 79th minutes romped to victory and a place in the semis.
Following a tight first half where no goals were scored, GFC broke the deadlock on 53 minutes when Joel Humphrey found the back of the nets and they never looked back from that moment. The final goal was scored on the stroke of full time, compliments of Rockford Edmonds.
In the other match, a humdinger of clash saw GT Panthers pulling on their experience to outduel their younger Beacon rivals.
Beacon had run out 3-1 leaders 62 minutes into the clash but a 67th minute free kick from elder statesman Elroy Parks not only narrowed the advantage but paved the way for the equalising goal.
The ensuing 30 minutes of extra time failed to separate the two sides and it was kicks from the penalty mark which saw GT Panthers prevailing to reach the semi finals.
