Within the space of five days two Venezuelans have been nabbed with firearm on two separate occasions. Just yesterday a 61-year-old Venezuelan national was nabbed with one 9mm pistol.
Based on reports reaching Kaieteur News, the weapon was discovered some time yesterday between 07:00hrs and 10:00hrs, following a joint operation between CANU, G Division and GDF.
The operation was conducted at Grant Vreed-En-Hoop. The pistol with its number filed off, was found in a house occupied by the 61-year-old male Venezuelan National. The man has been placed in custody and investigations continue.
Last Monday, a Venezuelan was amongst three persons who were nabbed by police with two handguns in Charity, Pomeroon. A search of the motor car, which the men were in, led to the discovery of one 9 mm pistol with two magazines and 40 live rounds of ammunition.
Another 9 mm pistol with a magazine and 18 live rounds was found under the driver’s seat.
