As a group of students from School of Nations’ Master of Business Administration Programme—Cohort 16, please allow us a space in your column to vent our disappointment with the management and staff of the institute. First of all, it was a struggle—financially—to complete the programme which cost approximately $1.5M each. Now that we have finished and are eligible to graduate, we are told by the staff that if we do not have $12,000 then we cannot graduate.
It is important to note that the $12,000 is only for the student—$6,000 to rent the gown and a ticket for the student is another $6,000. No cash will be refunded when the gown is returned.
If a student desires to take a guest, there will be an additional $6,000 for each person.
Now, some of us have more than three siblings and our parents, not forgetting our partner and children, who would all like to be there with us on that special day.
If the cost had included dinner then that would not have been an issue but we are told that this includes “a light snack.” Also, the graduation will be for at least three different programmes so that is almost or maybe more than 200 students.
In concluding, we hope that the director of this school reconsiders the fee he has attached for the students to graduate.
Yours,
Disappointed former students
