Wellwoman, 4R Lioness and Regal Masters recorded victories when the latest round of matches in the Back to Eden, Trophy Stall, Khan’s Trading and
Permaul’s Trading softball competition concluded on Sunday last.
Playing in the female category at Malteenoes Sports Club, Wellwoman defeated Swan Strikers by 53 runs. Wellwoman batted first and managed 180-6 off their allocation of 15 overs. Latoya Smith struck five sixes in a top score of 57, while Zola Telford made 44 with three fours and two sixes, Joan Vansertima got 36 including three fours and a similar number of sixes and Susan Devanand contributed 26. Avina Adrian grabbed 4-24.
Swan Strikers which is based on the Linden Soesdyke Highway responded with 127-6. Adrian made 33 with one four and two sixes while Rowena Chu scored 23, Camlita Adams 20 and Alisha Gilkes 14. Telford claimed 2-18.
4R lioness beat Swan Strikers by 56 runs. 4R Lioness took first strike and posted
171-5. Temica Wilson slammed six fours and five sixes in scoring 69 as she added 86 for the third-wicket with Sangeeta Sawh who stroked six sixes in a fluent 65. Aleema Aroka got 13 as Avina Adrian took 2-18, while there was one each for Alisha Gilkes, Camlita Adams and Wendy Davidson. Swan Strikers were limited to 115-7 in reply. Adrian hit five fours in scoring 41, while Adams and Rowena Chu made 15 each and Gilkes 14. Lisa Gills had 2-12, Akaze Thompson 2-14 and Kaysia Schultz 2-16.
At Parika Salem ground, East Bank Essequibo, Regal Masters beat Parika Defenders by seven wickets. Batting first, Parika Defenders were restricted for 140-9 in 20 overs. Desmond Harries made 46 and S. Mohamed 20. Laurie Singh snared 4-13 and Mohendra Arjune 2-23. Led by a fine 54 from Eon Abel, Regal Masters responded with 143-3 in 17.4 overs. Samuel Kingston supported with 26, Rudolph Baker 18 and Cecil Ramsaroop 17. (Zaheer Mohamed)
