A brace of goals off the boot of Randy De Jonge guided Mainstay Gold Star to championship honours when the Essequibo Pomeroon Football
Association (EPFA) concluded their Senior League on Sunday afternoon last at the Anna Regina Community Center Ground in Essequibo, despite the elements from above.
As a matter of fact, all three goals in the 2-1 result in favour of Mainstay were scored by the winners, an own goal from Rodwell Wilson in the 30th minute was the only consolation for Charity Xtreme.
De Jonge had earlier netted in the 12th and 19th minutes for the champions as they dominated their counterparts to cap the year in the best possible way. Copping the third place without breaking a sweat were Essequibo Technical Institute Warriors (ETIW).
Queenstown FC, their opponent, did not show up for the match and the EPFA awarded the match to ETIW. Sights are now set on the Guyana Football Federation / Stag Super 16 Year End Tourney which has at stake over 4M in cash and other incentives.
The tournament will commence on December 14th with the Group Stage matches.
