The relatives of Jason Thomas are seeking answers to how he ended up being electrocuted a month ago, allegedly while repairing a freezer.
Thomas, 31, of Crane, West Coast Demerara, was a self employed refrigerator and air conditioner technician.
According to reports on October 15 last, Thomas was working at a client’s home when he was electrocuted.
Family members said a friend informed them of his death when Thomas’s body was at the funeral parlour.
Kaieteur News understands that the body was tagged as an ‘unknown’ at the funeral parlour although his driver’s licence was on his person and his vehicle registration and other documents were in his car.
A close family member said that police have been reluctant to disclose the identity of the individual Thomas was working for when he met his demise.
“We tried to see the body when it was at the parlour; however that was dismissed by a police rank. I remember this clearly, it was Corporal (name given) who said that, ‘Don’t feel y’all gon try go to the parlour now and break in, cause that will be a charge…”
They said that although a senior official has instructed his ranks to investigate thoroughly, the probe appears to be at a standstill.
They are appealing for information that would reveal the circumstances regarding his demise.
